I shared intimate memories of Paul at VHS and losing him~ only 10 months had passed.
2008 Scholarship Winner- Asim Javed
Hello Carla. I can't even begin to explain how honored I was last Wednesday to receive your son's memorial scholarship. Reading over his memory book, I can tell he was a generous and thoughtful person who was always looking to help others. He was someone who followed his heart and never judged people for being different. What I realized most about Paul, though, was that he never forgot about the importance of faith in one's life.
Being someone who believes strongly in prayer, I have the utmost respect for how devoted Paul was to his faith; I know that everyday in his life, through his experiences, he sought to strengthen his connection with God. Like Paul, I've also come to realize that faith is a beautiful thing that affects us in many ways. It maintains that " inner peace" that is mentioned in Paul's favorite scripture and educates us about the world around us.
If Paul were here today, I know he would have nothing but appreciation for how you have kept his legacy alive. His story is truly an inspiration to all and like Paul did everyday, I hope to continue striving for excellence in life. I want to thank you again for sharing your son's inspirational legacy with me and I look forward to staying in touch in the future. Thank you.

2009 Scholarship winner- Trevor Wilson
I shared what a legacy means~ that a legacy is only a legacy if we continue their gifts as acts that truly defined their life. Knowing you have a voice and using it to make your world a better place. To inspire others to live to their fullest potential. Have Courage always. Paul inspired this message to carry on his "voice"......his message, his purpose/ memories that inspired the "Inspiration Room at the shelter and the ultimate forgiveness in life" only 22 months have passed.
2010 Scholarship Winner- Adam Willman
Shelly and I presented together- in honor
“To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson- may have said this- But you lived it…..not long enough…but well enough....we miss you so...
These young men have strong characteristics, academic achievements and gifts of community service & sportsmanship that very much reflected those of Paul Jr. He would be honored to know them. I wish them all the best in their future goals and dreams, may you know the specialness this award has for us.
My most sincere thanks to all who have made donations in Paul's memory. Paul's legacy of generosity to help others in his life lives on.
